EDITORIAL

The journey of the National Library of Nigeria is one of continuous growth guided by visionary leadership and staff dedication. The library has evolved to meet changing needs from expanding access, improving cataloging systems, digitization efforts, and nationwide literacy programs all with the bid to ensure knowledge preservation and accessibility.As we commemorate the 60th anniversary of the National Library of Nigeria, we are celebrating a legacy built on vision, service and continuous innovation. For six decades, the Apex Library has remained at the forefront of preserving and disseminating knowledge thereby serving as the intellectual heart of our nation and a pillar of support for educational and cultural heritage development.

Since its establishment in 1964, the National Library of Nigeria has grown steadily and humbly into a revered institution dedicated to fostering literacy, lifelong learning by supporting scholarship and safeguarding the nation’s intellectual output. Through these periods characterized by transformation and challenges, the library has upheld its mandate of being the intellectual storehouse and databank of learning of the nation with resilience and steadfast commitment. This Special Edition (Vol. 34, No. 2) comprises articles that highlights the legacy and achievements of the National Library over the years. These articles are:

As we celebrate this Diamond Jubilee, the National Library of Nigeria will continue to embrace innovation, nurture research and extend its reach in line with our current vision and mission. We extend heartfelt appreciation to our founders, administrators, librarians and patrons. Also, to contributors and reviewers of articles for this Special issue.
