EDITORIAL
Nigerliblios is a long standing professional journal with a large and wide subscriber base.
It brings currency ,authority and accessibility to the reporting of current research, issues
and debates in the broadarea of library and information science.
I am delighted to inform our teeming subscribers that the current
issue, volume 17 numbers 1 & 2 (Jan. - Dec., 2006) is the third since
its resuscitation in 2004. A cream of professional librarians were
in involved editing the publication and the authors are librarians with several years of experience.
This issue of Nigerbiblios includes topics that discuss various aspects of library and information practice such as:
-the state of the art in information and communication technology;
-National Bibliographic Control;
-Collection Development;
-Library Utilization;
-The place of government documents in reference services;
-and the role of information in enhancing the status of women in
development.
The resuscitation of this journal, with improved format and structure,
can only be sustained meaningfully if itis properly utilized. I am therfore, calling for cooperation of librarians information scientists both within and outside the country to submit thoroughly
researched articles to the editor-in-chief for publication to ensure
continuity.
Itis my sincere hope that this journal continues to provide an avenue
for authors to publish their works and that readers would find this
issue enlightening and stimulating.
