Abstract

The book industry in Nigeria is crucial for national development and survival, serving as a cornerstone of the educational infrastructure. Adequate reading materials are essential for a sound education and literacy, which are vital for progress and modernization. The industry's viability is currently threatened by numerous serious problems, posing a significant risk to the entire educational system. The author has shifted the focus from piracy to these broader challenges, arguing that piracy is not the primary issue. The paper expresses deep concern that if these overwhelming problems are not addressed promptly, the educational system could collapse, with severe consequences for current and future generations of Nigerians.
