Abstract

Statistics are essential for effective modern library management, particularly in cataloguing. The global trend towards standardized practices like AACR2, and similar review efforts in Nigeria, highlight the need for precise information. Scientific management, built on numerical data, requires reliable statistics for informed decision-making. Maintaining statistics within each library section is crucial for proper functioning and goal achievement, making statistics a fundamental requirement for contemporary library operations.
