BUDGETING TECHNIQUES AND PRACTICES IN NIGERIA UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES
Abstract
The paper investigates budgeting methods in Nigerian university libraries to boost revenue amid competing demands, asserting that budget preparation and submission processes directly influence results, with well-prepared budgets favored for success. Nigerian university librarians predominantly utilize traditional incremental budgeting due to its simplicity in preparation and administration, often learned on the job rather than through formal financial management training. This reliance on traditional techniques may hinder their ability to adopt innovative funding strategies that necessitate specialized training.
