Abstract

Computers have become a sophisticated tool, widely used in various fields due to technological advancements. They are now essential in organizations for managing information resources and services, with applications categorized into library management, management support, database management, and information retrieval. Libraries and information centers are developing collections in an environment of electronic publication and information delivery. The computer age makes it mandatory for libraries and information centers in Nigeria to computerize their functions and services. Free software from industrialized countries is available for developing countries, and adequate planning and execution can greatly benefit from available information technology. Adopting information technology is crucial for social, economic, technically, and scientific advancements.
