Abstract

The quality of Librarianship in Nigeria can be categorized into four categories: certificate courses, undergraduate diploma courses, higher national diploma courses, and post-graduate diploma courses. The quality of products depends on factors like course content, staffing, instruction, practical work, and physical facilities. Issues include harmonizing programs, restructuring programs to meet employer and community needs, accrediting existing programs, and establishing a formal system of mobility for sub-professional staff. Nzotta proposed allowing exceptionally bright Diploma graduates to progress to the BLS program, which has been adopted by Zaria and Kano.
